Personal
Dakota County has been home for most of Mike's life, first in Apple Valley, and presently rural Greenvale Township between Lakeville and Northfield. Mike watched Orrin Thompson's company build the Apple Valley, Greenleaf and Scott Highlands subdivisions and transform the old Lebanon Township from a small farming community to a well-planned, well-managed city of over 50,000, known since 1969 as Apple Valley. Interested and active in city government, Mike was a candidate for Apple Valley City Council twice. He was also involved with youth sports in both Apple Valley and Rosemount, and coached soccer for ten years. Current hobbies include training and competing in dog agility trials, fishing, hunting, gardening, and working in various civic and political venues.
